Myself, Rickey McCandless, and my daughter Hannah went on a late May visit prior to my birthday.
Not only it was more than worth the visit; it was a great experience.
Although we caught the museum on a regular visit day; there are many other special events this year.
One major note is the 75th Birthday Party for its recent acquisition, the Berkshire Locomotive; Nickel Plate 757.
It will take Saturday August 17th, 2019.
A brief description from their FB page..
Join the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum in celebrating the 75th birthday of Nickel Plate Road No.757!
Our party will begin in the New York Central Freight House where a program explaining the history of the 757, how it came back to Bellevue recently, and how the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum plans to display and use the locomotive in the future. Then step into our 1927 Nickel Plate dining car to enjoy a BBQ Buffet and Birthday Cake. Next, you’ll be free to explore the locomotive while museum volunteers are available for Q&A. For the first time ever, guests will have access to the inside of the locomotive cab.
