“It’s a bit of a homecoming, a bit of a reunion”

One of many things shared by Kelly Lynch; longtime wrangler for Nickel Plate 765 (from Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society).

The 1st time, known; that static display Mad River and NKP’s 757 and Fort Wayne’s active 765 Berkshires have been together.

Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and Mad River and NKP Railroad Museum set forth earlier this spring plans for the gathering of these two beautiful giants.

The 1st weekend was September 24-26th. The final weekend (this upcoming) will be October 1st-3rd.

While some of the major events (cab rides, night photo sessions, and hostler sessions) have been sold out. Caboose rides and Breakfast with the Berkshires remain available for this upcoming weekend.

For further sales of those weekend events and travel info; please go to the Fort Wayne Website link for details and ticket sales.

To reunite with the likes of Kelly Lynch and some of the gang from Fort Wayne was amazing. Dwayne Fuehring, Bill Musser and many of the staff and volunteers were amazing co-hosts from the Mad River team.

Staff and volunteers from both organizations were friendly and insightful when riding the caboose rides. They were also helpful during many of the runbys for photographers and railfans alike.

Myself and Kevin Shook rode the 1:30 caboose ride. Our staff on board shared many stories on helping building both organizations, as well as working on both engines.

If you are able to attend this weekend…,it would be worth the trip to Bellevue.

I foresee a great future for both Fort Wayne and Mad River and NKP to do events down the road.
